How to read the NHL odds screen

Each game has a row per side. Best odds is the highest price any book is offering on that side at the number most books are hanging, with that book's logo; Avg is the typical price across them. A price shown faded is at a different number (a half point off on a spread or total), so it is not compared like for like.

Prediction markets (Kalshi, Polymarket, Novig, ProphetX and others) sit in their own group to the right of the sportsbooks. They trade contracts in cents: a 55¢ contract is -122. Where an exchange publishes its taker fee (Kalshi), the price shown is after that fee. Open Player props on any game to see each sportsbook's line and price beside the DFS apps' lines (PrizePicks, Underdog, Pick6): the apps pay fixed odds, so their line is the number to compare.

The gap between books is the whole point. Getting -105 instead of -115 on every bet is worth more over a season than most handicapping edges: see line shopping, and turn any price into a win chance with the implied probability calculator.

What a fair price means

Sharp books set prices that are close to the real chance of each result once their margin is taken out. A price better than that fair number is positive expected value. Read more in positive EV betting. Our own projections for each game are on the model boards.
